Trainee Children's Wellbeing Practitioner
Living Well Consortium, a partnership of member organisations in Birmingham and Solihull, is recruiting for two Trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners to work within their NHS Talking Therapies (previously IAPT) service. The Traineeship involves teaching with the University of Reading as well as self-directed study days and a placement with Living Well Consortium.
The Trainee CWP role will include brief therapeutic early interventions for children and adolescents with mild to moderate anxiety and depression as well as parents of children experiencing mental health problems. The role also involves preventative work within communities, supporting mental health promotion in community settings though psychoeducation, training, group work, and supporting CYP/parent participation.
Training delivered by the University of Reading is a combination of face-to-face, remote/online teaching, and university directed independent learning sessions. The Traineeship is assessed in numerous ways including module tests, recordings of clinical assessments and intervention sessions, written work, case reports, presentations, and submission of portfolios.
Candidates should have an honours degree graded at 2:2 or above. They should also have a minimum of one year’s experience of supporting children/young people with their mental health.
The Traineeship starts in February 2026.
Terms and Conditions

- Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Salary: £29,114 pro rata per annum
- Fixed term for twelve months
- Traineeship begins in February 2026
- Hybrid working (in person working required at Employer and University multiple days per week)
